Summary

Location: Cohen Place, Little Bourke Street This statue commemorates Dr Sun Yat Sen, who played a significant role in the overthrow of the Qing Dynasty in the early 20th century. Dr Sun Yat Sen was a Chinese revolutionary and the first president and founding father of the Nationalist Republic of China. He became the first provisional president when the Republic of China was formed in 1912. Funded by the Dr Sun Yat Sen Steering Committee, the statue was unveiled outside the Chinese Museum's entrance in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China.
