Flier, Corporate scumbags 2011

Summary

Staged as a part of the Occupy Melbourne protests in October 2011, the Corporate Scumbags Tour was described by organisers as ‘part educational, part walking tour, going around to explain where the large corporations are in Melbourne and some of the things they’ve been doing in terms of social and environmental degradation.’ Inspired by the Occupy Wall Street protests a month earlier, Occupy Melbourne sought to bring public attention to entrenched economic inequality and social injustice. Protesters occupied City Square for six days before being forcibly removed by police, at the request of Melbourne City Council. The protest then relocated to Treasury Gardens, where it was maintained for another several weeks.
