This urn-shaped standing vase has a large oval panel on its front with a version of the City of Melbourne coat of arms bordered on either side by flags, two of which are for the colony of Victoria. 'A presentation was made on Saturday by M. Boemcour, Consul Commissioner-General for France to the Melbourne International Exhibition, to the public of the colony of Victoria, which will be appreciated on account of its value and the care which must have been bestowed in its preparation. The large specimen of Sevres porcelain in the French court, was handed over to the president of the commission.' 'The Argus', Monday 29 November, 1880, p.4.
