Summary

Location: Australian Warf, Docklands. South of Collins Street. 'The River Runs Through It', by Melbourne artist Mark Stoner, is a spatial installation that merges art and landscape. The installation comprises a ground plane ‘flow’ of shaped paving, 16 white pre-cast concrete ‘wave’ forms, five brick dunes and carefully placed planter forms. This evocative and organic landscape overlays the urban stripe paving pattern, revealing the natural forces underlying the site. It reminds us of the Yarra and alluvial mud plain that previously existed around the site.
