Summary

Souvenir album of fifty-six photographs documenting the Festival of Progress held 13 November 1951 to commemorate the centenary of the Victorian Government. The event included a crowning ceremony for 'The Princess of Spring’ and a parade of floats including Kelvinator, the Master Drapers’ and Traders’ Association of Victoria, Victoria Banjo Club, the Metropolitan Fire Brigade and the Postmaster General’s Department. The Festival of Progress was a precursor to Moomba which commenced four years later in 1955.
