Summary

This drawing depicts three brown grass bugs on blades of grass. As depicted in the illustration, the brown grass bug is a master of camouflage, blending into their surroundings. Brown grass bugs are part of a group of insects called heteropteran bugs, which live on land or water and come in all shapes, sizes and colours. The one thing they have in common is their mouth part which looks like a straw, which they se to pierce and suck their food. The illustration was drawn by Kate Cranney for the City of Melbourne's publication 'The Little Things that Run the City'. The book explores the diversity of insects we have within our city’s boundaries and examines what we can do to help them survive and thrive.
