Summary

There have been two permanent organs installed in Town Hall since 1872. The original organ was extensively rebuilt in 1905 but destroyed in the 1925 fire. The second, unveiled in 1929, was in disrepair by the 1990s; it was lovingly restored by a US company. The organ is 9.75 metres high and has 6024 pipes.
