Summary

This banner was donated to the Art and Heritage Collection in 2023 following the unsuccessful Australian Indigenous Voice Referendum. On 14 October 2023, Australia held a referendum to establish an Indigenous advisory body representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people that would have given advice to the Australian Parliament and government on matters affecting Indigenous communities. Representing the donors support for constitutional change, this 'yes' banner was used in the 'Melbourne Walk for Yes' rally held on 17 September 2023. The procession started at the State Library of Victoria on Swanston Street and concluded at Federation Square.
