Summary

This proclamation, or warrant, was signed by King Edward VIIth and dated 1902. It effectively upgraded the status of the title of Mayor of Melbourne to that of Lord Mayor of Melbourne. The inset letter, written by Lord Tennyson, the second Governor General of Australia, clarified some of the finer points regarding the use of the title.
