Kenny Pittock, Train drawings, 2014

Summary

Kenny Pittock is a Melbourne artist who is enchanted by the everyday and who works across several mediums. When he lived with his parents in Upper Ferntree Gully Pittock would commute daily to his studio in the Nicholas Building. During these journeys he would draw his fellow passengers. Over a period of two years he did almost 500 of these drawings. Often his subjects would get off the train before he had barely put pen to paper. What began as a way to pass the time developed into a more conscious project. Ninety-nine of the drawings were displayed at the 'NEW14' exhibition at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art. The City of Melbourne purchased nine of them.
