Summary

Framed portrait of HRH Queen Elizabeth II Beatrice Johnson was a senior photographer and artist at the Dorothy Wilding Studio in Bond Street, London. When her family forbade her to become an actress, Dorothy Wilding (1893-1976) took up photography and became a celebrated society photographer whose studio was renowned for their portraits of the Royal Family Beatrice Johnson hand-coloured some of the most high profile images of the Queen and would have created this exquisite panting after one of the studio portraits. This portrait was made in 1954, not long after the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth.
