Lord Mayor, Food for Britain Appeal, World War II, WWII, 1939-1945

Summary

After the World War II ended with VP (Victory in the Pacific) Day on 19 August, 1945, Britain was forced to appeal for food aid from its Commonwealth allies. Melbourne, along with other cities and towns in Australia, gave generously via what is now known as the Lord Mayor's Charitable Fund.
