Summary
This camera belonged to Robert (Bob) Bolitho and was used to make the photographs in record 1721922.
Robert Bolitho (Bob) was born on 10 January 1928 along with his twin sister Freda. He was one of six children who grew up in a timber town south of Perth in Wellington Mills.
In early 1948 he moved to Melbourne for twelve months where he gained a welding certificate at night school and lived in a boarding house in Edgar Street, Glen Iris. It was during his time in Melbourne that these photographs were taken. It seems that he and his ‘Box Brownie’ camera went everywhere together during that year. Many photos were taken, although many locations cannot be identified.
Bolitho returned to Perth in early 1950 when he received a telegram advising his father was ill. From then on he was involved in windmill maintenance and irrigation in Western Australia. He married in 1951 and had four children. Bolitho died in 2016 – 5 days after his 65th wedding anniversary. His widow Renee still lives in Perth.
