Summary

Location: Birrarung Marr Grey granite drinking fountain with two troughs. In 1936, the area between the Yarra River and Batman Avenue was named Stapley Parade Reserve, after Councillor Frank Stapley, who represented the Albert Ward from 1898 to 1939 and served as mayor over 1917 and 1918. Identical granite drinking fountains were erected at either end of the reserve. They were engraved with ‘Stapley Parade’, which is now known as Birrarung Marr. Unveiled 23 April 1936
