Summary
This object is a main switch for a medium size commercial or industrial installation. It was manufactured by an electrical engineering company founded in 1916 by Oliver John Nilsen. Nilsen was elected to Melbourne City Council in 1934 and served on the Electric Supply Committee until 1964. He went on to be elected Lord Mayor in 1951. Nilsen remains a large Melbourne-based electrical manufacturer.
