Summary

Several years ago Mr Bill McDonald was helping Joan King, the donor, clean up the house of her recently deceased Aunt who was a lifelong member of the Australian Labour Party and a regular demonstrator on social and political issues. The badge relates to the campaign to end the reign of Sir Henry Bolte, Victoria’s longest serving premier, from 7 June 1955 to 23 August 1972 (Liberal Party). With the donor’s approval Mr McDonald retrieved the badge from the fridge and eventually passed it on to the Collection Program Manager, City of Melbourne, Eddie Butler-Bowdon, a friend.
