This artwork by Josh Muir was acquired by the Art and Heritage Collection in 2022.

Josh Muir was a proud Yorta Yorta/Gunditjmara man who held his culture strong and close to his heart; it gave him his voice and his identity. Although Ballarat born and bred, Josh drew much of his inspiration from Melbourne, both from its built and natural environment. Muir’s artworks echoed his culture in a contemporary setting, and his practice that reflected his journey. Using bright colours and bold lines, he often drew together historical events and stories and presented them alongside current narratives in a distinctive graphic style.

The late artist's family has granted permission to use his name.
