Framed colour photograph of 1983 Moomba King, Daryl Somers. Daryl Somers, born in 1951, became an Australian household face from the 1970s, fronting the popular television show Hey, Hey It’s Saturday, which screened from 1971 to 1999. Somers' first Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian TV was achieved in 1983, the year he became Moomba royalty; he has since won two more Gold Logies. In the 2004 Australia Day Honours List, he was awarded Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the television and entertainment industries.
