Summary

This bold graphic design by Richard Beck was entered into a design competition organised by the Melbourne Olympic Committee in 1954 in its search for an official poster to promote the 1956 Olympic Games. Catching the eye of the judges, Beck's poster was the winning entrant. Prior to being released as a poster in 1956, the design wast first reproduced on an Australian postage stamp in 1954.
